2009 PHILLIES BEARDS CHART
NEW GHOST PHOTO TAKEN AT FORT MIFFLIN ON 10/29/09
I went to the Haunted Tour at Fort Mifflin and took some pics because the place is supposed to be haunted. Check out this one I snapped right before we left. Swear this room was empty. Take a close look at the last cot on the left. This was taken in the soldiers quarters. Anyone else see a figure sitting on the last cot with his back up against the wall. If you can zoom, you can make out a head with a three-point soldiers hat. Creepy!!!
It was even featured on a popular paranormal website. Check it out here: http://www.hauntedamericatours.com/ghosthunting/FORTMIFFLIN.php
Interestingly enough, this casemate 5 was hidden for over 100 years and just discovered in recent years by the caretaker!

OKTOBERFEST 2009 – WISH I WAS THERE!!!
Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year in Munich, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year, and is an important part of Bavarianculture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.
The Munich Oktoberfest, traditionally, takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October. In 1994, the schedule was modified in response to German reunification so that if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3 (German Unity Day). Thus, the festival is now 17 days when the 1st Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1. The festival is held on an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese), often called d’ Wiesn for short.
Visitors also eat huge amounts of traditional hearty fare such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Haxn (knuckle of pork), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstel (sausages) along with Brezeln (Pretzel), Knödeln (potato or bread dumplings), Käsespätzle(cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Rotkraut (red cabbage) along with such Bavarian delicacies as Obatzda (a fatty, spiced cheese-butter concoction) and Weisswurst (a white sausage).
OCTOBER CALENDAR OF EVENTS AT FISHTOWN AIRWAYS ARTIST’S MARKET
CHECK OUT FISHTOWN AIRWAYS – ARTIST’S MARKET AND CO-OP
SEPTEMBER 4, 2009 – 6PM – 10PM
200 GIRARD AVE. @ THE CORNER OF SHACKAMAXON, NEXT DOOR TO MURPH’S BAR!
This is a great art gallery and crafter’s and artist’s market. A great place to view new up and coming artists and even purchase some of their creations. Their aim is to be more of a fun eclectic art market than a pretentious gallery. They want regular people to feel comfortable shopping there. We may be joining this co-op in the near future and would love to get the word out.
They house everything from gemstone jewelry, metal welded jewelry, hand painted & screened clothing, framed & canvas paintings, home decor, sculptures, wood carvings, to fun magnets & buttons.

Well, I decided to go get a new tattoo this weekend. It was done by the amazing Steve Styles. Check him out here http://www.myspace.com/steve_styles and firstname.lastname@example.org. He is an amazing artist!
I am sticking with the nautical theme, as I grew up in and around the beach and ocean. There is nothing more freeing than standing on the beach on a secluded island or floating on your back and staring up at the big blue sky. I have a new found desire for tattoos that express this freedom and also the adventure that the open sea has provided for centuries. I already have a tattoo of an anchor, mermaid and shark. This is the newest addition.
Well I am sure we are all excited that the Phillies are beating up on the Mets! And I mean this both figuratively and literally. Check out this video of a Mets fan getting, as Sarge says it best, “cool[ed] off.”
